The weather has been terrific this week. We were nearly melting with the heat in our classroom all week!!! Today, we enjoyed ice-cream, custard and chocolate sprinkles in the school garden. It was delicious!!!
We are all delighted summer is here! We all designed our own set of sunglasses to wear this week. We hope the amazing weather continues so we get the chance to wear them. Take a look at all the different designs below.
We had an extra special treat today as we have been working so hard all year!!! We had a small class party for Goldentime. We had a big white chocolate cake. YUMMY!!! One of the children brought in a special treat for the class to enjoy too!!! We were entertained with wonderful singing from some of the children!!! Take a look at all the fun we had!!! On Monday 20th May 2013, one of the children arrived into school with some fantastic news. He won a gold medal the day before at a Taekwondo competition. He proudly showed us his medal and told us all about it! Well Done - we are so proud of you!!!  In History and Drama this month, we have been doing loads of work on and around The King's Secret. We have really loved doing still images in relation to this story. Have a look at us in action!!! On Monday, following the First Holy Communion the children wowed everyone in the school with how well they looked on their special day!!! The children enjoyed telling all the children and teachers about their day and had great fun walking the "catwalk" in some of the classrooms. They all had a wonderful weekend, which they thoroughly deserved after working so hard throughout the year in preparing for their First Holy Communion. It was lovely to see them so excited and happy!!! I think given half the chance, we'd do it all again tomorrow!!! It was an amazing and memorable day!!! We have had such an amazing time together so far this year, which made Saturday all the more special and it's not over yet!!! Hopefully there are more such memories to come before the end of June!!! Take a look at some of the photographs taken in the school today!!! Saturday 11th May 2013 was a very special day for the children in First Class. It will be forever remembered as a very important and special day in their lives as they celebrated their First Holy Communion. It was the culmination of a lot of hard work, commitment and dedication from the children since the start of the school year. The children have been working incredibly hard since September in preparation for this very special celebration and it showed in the run up to and on the day itself. The ceremony itself was lovely and involved much participation from the children. The ceremony began with a procession by all the children making their First Holy Communion. Garreth read the First Reading. Aimee read about the significance of the gifts being brought to the altar, which reflected the lives of the children making their First Holy Communion and the work they have been doing in preparation for this special celebration. Sam, Galilejus, Ella, Heather, Leah, Abbie, Scott and Abby brought these gifts to the altar. Ruby read Footprints for Children. Harley, Karl, Jade, Amber, Daniel and Nikole read the Prayers of the Faithful. Rebecca and Jack brought the Eucharistic Offerings of Bread and Wine to the altar. All the children went to the top of the church for the Our Father, which included actions. The ceremony ended with the children performing We are the Greatest at the top of the church, much to the delight of their family and friends! Following the ceremony in the church, it was lovely to see so many of the children with their families back at the school for refreshments. Special thanks to the Parent's Association who decorated the hall so well and put on a lovely spread. It was greatly appreciated!!! The children all looked amazing on the day! Ms. Fitzpatrick was incredibly proud of them all!!! All their amazing work throughout the year paid off and showed on the day! We had great fun last term doing Tennis on a Friday morning in the hall. This term we are doing GAA every Thursday afternoon. We really love all the games and activities we get to play. We are learning loads of new skills. It's great fun!!!
We have been working so hard all year in preparation for our First Penance and First Holy Communion. Our final mass in preparation for our First Holy Communion was on Saturday 27th April 2013. Amber, Lana and Samuel read the prayers of the faithful. Aimee and her mam and Karl and his mam brought up the bread and wine to the altar. We will be making our First Holy Communion in two weeks time, on Saturday 11th May 2013. We can't wait!!!
