Saturday 11th May 2013 was a very special day for the children in First Class. It will be forever remembered as a very important and special day in their lives as they celebrated their First Holy Communion. It was the culmination of a lot of hard work, commitment and dedication from the children since the start of the school year. The children have been working incredibly hard since September in preparation for this very special celebration and it showed in the run up to and on the day itself. The ceremony itself was lovely and involved much participation from the children. The ceremony began with a procession by all the children making their First Holy Communion. Garreth read the First Reading. Aimee read about the significance of the gifts being brought to the altar, which reflected the lives of the children making their First Holy Communion and the work they have been doing in preparation for this special celebration. Sam, Galilejus, Ella, Heather, Leah, Abbie, Scott and Abby brought these gifts to the altar. Ruby read Footprints for Children. Harley, Karl, Jade, Amber, Daniel and Nikole read the Prayers of the Faithful. Rebecca and Jack brought the Eucharistic Offerings of Bread and Wine to the altar. All the children went to the top of the church for the Our Father, which included actions. The ceremony ended with the children performing We are the Greatest at the top of the church, much to the delight of their family and friends!
Following the ceremony in the church, it was lovely to see so many of the children with their families back at the school for refreshments. Special thanks to the Parent's Association who decorated the hall so well and put on a lovely spread. It was greatly appreciated!!! The children all looked amazing on the day! Ms. Fitzpatrick was incredibly proud of them all!!! All their amazing work throughout the year paid off and showed on the day! Special thanks to Father Reilly, Sister Helen and all the parents for their support throughout the year. Take a look at some of the pictures taken on the day!!! Enjoy!!!
