Fixture: St. Patrick’s Ringsend Vs St. Joseph’s Co-ed. East Wall Venue: Ringsend Park Astro (Thursday 30th Nov 2017) Match Report: In our first friendly of the season, we travelled to Ringsend on a windy and cold day to play local rivals St. Pat’s. It was our first match wearing our new kit! In the first half East Wall were the stronger team but didn’t get the break they needed. Sam slipped a great pass through to Calum L but his quick shot was well saved by the keeper. The Wallers kept up the pressure but chance after chance were missed. Victor, Ethan, Garreth and Sam all saw their shots denied by the post or by the talented Pat’s keeper. An East Wall corner was cleared and with only one defender back Pat’s quickly countered and scored the opening goal of the game. At half time, East Wall trailed by 1-0. In the second half, Karl was subbed on and almost made an instant impact. His shot beat the keeper, but not the post. Pat’s had a good spell of pressure after that but Scott was having a fine display in goals, making some fantastic saves. Their pressure paid off eventually though, some good Pat’s passing and some poor East Wall defending let them through to make it 2-0. After that it was all East Wall. Callum D scored a fantastic goal after some slick passing by the midfield but it was too little, too late and Pat’s held on for their victory. The result was disappointing but the performance gives us great hope for the rest of the season. Result: St. Patrick’s 2 – 1 St. Joseph’s Scorers: Callum D Report by: Ethan & Brad Comments are closed.
