Overview
In our school we follow the Primary School Curriculum, which was launched by the Department of Education in 1999. The principles of the curriculum are child-centred and learner-centred. Three main aims are identified in the curriculum
There are six subject areas in the curriculum and a total of 11 subjects. Religious education in primary schools is the responsibility of the relevant patron bodies, which in the case of our school is the Archbishop of Dublin.
Primary School Curriculum Areas
- to enable the child to live a full life as a child and to realise his or her potential as a unique individual
- emphasising the importance of literacy, numeracy and language
- responding to changing needs in science and technology, social personal and health education, and citizenship.
