As part of our work on floating and sinking in science, we designed and made our own boats in groups. Lots of us brought in materials from home. Our teacher was amazed at the creativity of the materials that were brought in for our project. Huge thanks to everybody at home that helped gather the materials!!! We had great fun in our groups choosing materials, sketching our ideas and then bringing our sketches to life!!!. We all had our fingers crossed our boats would float!!! Take a look at the various stages below.
We have been doing some interesting work on floating and sinking in science this month. Our teacher was blown away by the amazing facts we researched at home!
We had so much fun creating these! We used crayons to draw the outline and features. We also used crayons for the designs. We then painted our portraits using water colours in bold colours. Crayon resists the water colour when it is applied to create the effect you see below!
We read a poem entitled The Tree in Season by Robert Fisher. We used this poem as a stimulus for some incredible art work. We used our drawing, painting and printing skills to depict a tree in each of the seasons. Have a look at this work below.
Last week we celebrated Friendship Week across the entire school. Our class engaged in some fun, interesting and exciting activities throughout the week, all around the theme of friendship. Our Pupil of the ,Month awards were also based around friendship for the month of January. Our two favourite activities during the week were FRIENDS/FRIENDSHIP acrostic poems and word searches. We completed both of these activities in pairs.
The children in Fourth Class have been working very hard over the last few weeks writing their own Acrostic Poems.
Each child wrote their own Winter Acrostic Poem. Then, the children, in pairs, worked together to write Christmas Acrostic Poems. The children really enjoyed this work. Their teacher is extremely proud of the effort they put in. Everybody tried their best!!! Take a look at their incredible work below. We read a story called Bentley's Wish earlier this week in class. We had great fun creating our own aliens using the story as a stimulus. We used black sugar paper and chalk pastels. We are super proud of our work!!! Take a look through the gallery below and see for yourself!
For the month of November the class decided to focus on effort with homework for pupil of the month on Friday 29th.
