14th August 2020
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),
I hope this message finds you and your family safe and well.
Please see information below, which will help parents/guardians to make plans in relation to the safe return to school for your child/children.
On the first day back at school (Thursday, 27 Aug), times for STARTING school are as follows: 1st – 6th Class: 8.40 am, J. INFANTS: 8.50 am, S. INFANTS: 9.10 am, RECEPTION: 10 am. From Friday, 28 August onwards, school gates will open at 8.40 am for all classes, except REC who will have a reduced day of 10 am – 12 pm until 4 September. Specific information re: dropping off pupils, social distancing etc. will be provided on 24 August.
Times for ENDING school every day are as follows: RECEPTION: 12 pm until 4 September, all other days: 1.30 pm. J. INFANTS & S.INFANTS: 1.30 pm. 1st Class: 2.20 pm, 2nd Class: 2.25 pm, 3rd Class: 2.20 pm, 4th Class: 2.25 pm, 5th Class: 2.30 pm, 6th Class: 2.30 pm. Specific information re: pupil collection, social distancing etc. will be provided on 24 August.
Our plan is to return to school in as normal a manner as possible on 27 August. This includes the wearing of the school uniform. However, it has now been decided that the wearing of the school uniform and school tracksuit will be optional. We understand that parents/guardians may have concerns about needing to wash the school uniform each night. This is why we have made this decision.
As was published on the school website on 10 August, the school is currently preparing a detailed safe return to school plan in line with DES and HSE guidelines. This will be ratified by the Board of Mgmt. on 24 August. It will then be presented to parents/guardians. Your opinion is very important to us. Should you have thoughts or concerns you wish to be considered in the plan, please e-mail principal@stjosephscoed.ie before 22 August.
Kind regards,
Niall Heneghan

End of Year Letter Parents ... by Niall Heneghan on Scribd
Due to the ongoing sutuation of Covid 19, we have made some changes to our website and have added some new pages to help the children and parents work from home.
Support for Parents
Here is some important and useful information to support parents as they navigate their way through this difficult time.
We have created a new page called "Learning from Home".
It has the work sheets the teachers put together for the individual classes as well as information and resources you may find useful while you are working with your children at home.
Welcome to St. Joseph's Co-ed.
Our school first opened its doors to the children of this community in 1959, and since then has been consistent in providing an excellent standard of education to the youth of the area.
We here at St. Joseph's believe in providing a child-centred and holistic education which will equip the pupils of our school with the skills and attitudes necessary to survive and achieve in the fast paced world that is modern life.
St. Joseph's is a wonderful, colourful school that both teachers and students are proud to be a part of. Though situated on the fringes of East Wall, it is at the heart of this vibrant community.
