The Mathematics CurriculumThe Mathematics Curriculum emphasises the development of the child’s estimation skills and problem-solving skills using examples which are relevant to the child’s experience. Discussion, hands-on experience with materials, and active learning are encouraged from infants to sixth class, and the importance of the development of mathematical language in communicating ideas is also stressed. The development of numeracy skills is central to the child's life both within and outside school. These skills are also important for educational and personal success in later life.
