This month every school in the country will be celebrating Proclamation Day on March 15th, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising.
In our school we are all learning "Amhrán na bhFiann" (National Anthem) and every class will perform in a school concert on Proclamation Day. There will be a mixture of talent displayed by our children with some classes singing Irish songs, reciting Irish poetry and even dancing traditional Irish dances. 6th class will be rewriting the Proclamation of 1916 and reading the new 2016 version to everyone, as written by our young generation of today!Ms. Kennedy will raise the Irish flag at 1.45pm and it will fly over our school to remember the Easter Rising of 1916. The school will close at 12 noon on March 16th to celebrate both St. Patrick's Day and the Easter holidays. We wish everyone a happy and safe Easter and will see you all back in school on Monday 4th April.
