February was full of fun! We have been learning all about the farm. We learnt all about the animals, machinery and important work the farmers do. During Aistear, we dressed up like farmers to go to the farm shop. We also got to play with a mini farm, play with soil and make new puzzles that had animals on them. Unfortunately, the weather was bad so our farm trip got postponed to another time. We have been really lucky in Reception. Fifth class having been coming down to read us stories and help us with our learning. They even helped children write their Valentine's Day cards.

January was tons of fun. We came back to school after the holidays and started to learn about Winter and why it is so cold outside. We learnt all about some animals that live in very cold places. We loved hearing about the Penguins in Antarctica especially! This month was our first time getting homework. We loved taking work home with us to teach our families all about our new sounds and how we are trying really hard with our written work. Friendship week was the last week in January. We were so lucky to have 5th Class come read us some stories. We read lots of stories together as a class about how it is important to be a good friend. We made a big poster altogether and some children in 6th Class helped us make friendship bracelets. It is December and Christmas is here! We practiced our songs, lines and actions everyday in recent weeks to get ready for our show; Whoops-a-Daisy Angel. This month in our classroom we have a Christmas workshop, special Christmas stories and a postbox, a cosy fireplace and a Christmas tree. During Aistear we get to decorate the tree, make toys and create beautiful snowflakes and drawings. Sometimes we even get to post letters and pictures to the North Pole. An elf called Alfie came to visit and he can be quite silly messing with teachers things! We are all very excited for Christmas in Reception. In October and November we have been having a great time in Reception. We are always trying our best with our sounds. We worked really hard on our patterns and shapes for Maths Week. We had some new friends join our class and we showed them all the rules in our class and how we love to share. For Aistear in October we learnt all about working in a food shop and how important it is to eat our Fruit and Veg. In November we pretended to be builders working on a construction site and learnt all about different jobs we can have when we grow up. In September this year we have been making new friends, learning new sounds and getting to know our new school. Everyone is settling in well and we have had lots of fun sharing and playing with our new friends. We have lots of fun everyday and love getting up, singing, dancing and jumping around the room. Although we are only four years old, we have been working hard at listening, colouring and becoming more independent. |
