The moment when star of Oscar nominated Irish film learned he's a class act.![]() By Ken Sweeney Entertainment Editor Wednesday January 25 2012 IT is generally bad news when the principal comes looking for you at school. But 13-year-old actor Scott Graham didn't have to sweat it when the call came at St Joseph's CBS in Fairview in Dublin yesterday. He was just about to learn that the short film in which he stars had been nominated for an Oscar."When the principal Mr Cullen came in to say my dad was on the phone, I really didn't know what to think," Scott said last night. "But when we rang home, and I heard the news, I was over the moon. The Oscars? I still can't believe it, " The East Wall schoolboy is the lead in short film 'Pentecost', which is nominated in the Short Film category. It tells the story of a young altar boy torn between serving at Mass and playing football. No stranger to a red carpet, Scott mixed with A-list stars when he attended the IFTAs last year. "I met Saoirse Ronan and Pierce Brosnan. The event was huge, it was one of the best nights of my life," Scott said. However, it remains to be seen whether he will be able to attend the 84th Oscars in Hollywood on February 26. That is because his beloved grandmother Phyllis suffered a mild stroke recently. "Scott is very close to his Nana and devoted to her. We're not really sure about attending the Oscars," his father Paul said. Irish Independent, Wednesday 25th January 2012 Comments are closed.
