Ancient Egyptian writingThis month in third class room 11 we've been having a lot of fun learning all about the Ancient Egyptians. Some facts we have learned include: "They grew a lot of crops next to the river Nile because the land had lots of water. The river flooded every summer" (Nola) "Poor children did not get the chance to go to school" (Ava) "It took over 2 million bricks to build one of their pyramids" (Sean) "Soon after the pyramids were built the treasure inside was stolen" (Addison) We have been learning about the Ancient Egyptian alphabet called Hieroglyphics. We used the Hieroglyphics to write our own names on these oval pieces of stone called 'Cartouches', just like the Egyptians did.

Santa's cookie problemThis month Rang a 3 have been making great preparations for our Christmas performance of the play 'Santa's Cookie Problem'. They have done super work with their lines, following stage directions, expressing and projecting their voices and making stage props. Here are a few snap shots of our performance. 3rd Class Room 11 would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas ! Nollaig Shona duit! water water everywhere...![]() At the beginning of October, each pupil in third class room 11 brought in a plastic bottle. One afternoon we constructed a rain gauge and funnel. We wrote our names on the bottles and placed them in a hold all bag and, after a few attempts; we successfully began to collect water in the form of rain. We have already collected rainfall data for October using different measuring equipment and look forward to collecting more in November, December and January. We will publish the results on our class blog in February. |
