Welcome to our website!

On behalf of the Board of Management, I would like to welcome you all to our school webpage.
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Ellie Kennedy. I am the new Acting-Principal for the 2015/2016 school year. So far it has been an absolute privilege working here in this school. The children, teachers, parents and the wider community have made me feel very welcome. I am very lucky to have such a dedicated team behind me.
Our motto in St. Joseph's is 'Ní neart go cur le chéile.' This means that when we are united, we are stronger and our school has been working closely with the local community of East Wall and the docklands since it first opened its doors in 1895! St. Joseph's Primary values teamwork. By working together, we can achieve greatness.
We endeavor to enable our pupils to Create, Communicate, Collaborate and Critique. These skills require the child to work hard at enhancing their critical thinking skills. In order to achieve success in their future careers, we know that such skills must be fostered, nurtured and assessed. We are fortunate to have children in our school from many different countries. We celebrate the multi-cultural diversity that exists in St. Joseph’s and our teachers seize every opportunity to enable our pupils to learn new skills from one another.
The Board of Management acknowledges that parents are the prime educators of their children. As a school we highly value any input from parents. We really appreciate all the hard work parents do for our school. Last year, we built a new school playground. This would not have been possible if it wasn't for the hard work and dedication from parents. We work with parents in every way possible to enhance each child’s social, emotional and intellectual development.
We hope you have a great school year this year. We look forward to seeing you in our school.
Best wishes,
Ellie Kennedy
